Gerry oversees the missions ministries, office staff, adult Christian education and the church web site, in addition to his duties as an elder. He first came to Lancaster to work at NASA as a cooperative education student in 1981. The year before, he'd come to know Christ while studying accounting at the University of New Mexico. At Valley Bible, he says, "he saw Christians who cared what the Bible taught and who were determined to follow Jesus Christ and help others to do this also." For the next four years, he spent half the year working in California and the other half at college in New Mexico.
While in New Mexico, Gerry became involved in the Navigators, a college campus ministry, and spent two summers in ministry on the Navajo Indian reservation. There, he met Kelly, a University of Georgia student, who also ministered at the reservation. The two were married in 1988 after Gerry completed his studies at the Dallas Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master's of Arts in Biblical Studies. Gerry returned to Lancaster the same year and joined the pastoral staff of Valley soon after. Gerry and Kelly have three school-age children, Ansley, Shelby and Brady, who all love to play soccer (Actually, Brady retired from soccer in 2007).
